One parent sends this pretend message: “My phone broke. This is my new number. I need you to send me the security code that just came to your phone. Do it quickly and do not tell anyone.”

Pause: Do not send the code. Verify: Ask for the private family verification phrase as an extra check, then contact the parent through the known number or another established family channel. Tell: Bring the other parent, guardian, or trusted adult into the situation.

Explain why: security codes are account keys, urgency is a warning sign, and secrecy is a reason to involve an adult.
